Esther Gitlow Towers is a five story elevator building that features a security system with closed circuit TV monitors at the front door. Each apartment offers 1 bedroom, a living room-dining room combination, kitchen, and bathroom. All apartments are suitable for one or two people. Twelve units have been specifically designed to accommodate mobility impaired residents. There is a laundry room available on each floor for the tenants use.
Rockland Home for the Aged/Esther Gitlow Towers is a senior citizen facility which is subsidized by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The rent is calculated on a sliding scale based on income and medical bills. Eligible tenants rent will be approximately 30% of their remaining income after deducting all of their medical expenses. HUD also gives the residents of The Rockland Home for the Aged/Esther Gitlow Towers a $52.00 utility allowance every month. Below is a list of other requirements to be considered for residency:
Applicants must be over the age of 62.
Must meet the low income financial guidelines established by HUD.
To receive Federal subsidies your annual gross income cannot exceed $41,800 for one person or $47,750 for two people.
All applicants must be a citizen of the United States or have legal status in the U.S.
This apartment accepts HUD subsidies.
For HUD subsidized apartments, if you qualify for low income housing and they have available apartments, rent is based on 30% of your Adjusted Gross Income.
