Griffin Housing Authority provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of Low Rent Public Housing. This program is income based and the eligibility guidelines are set by HUD. There may be waiting lists for these rentals and at times the lists may close to new applicants due to the overwhelming need for housing assistance and the size of and length of wait on the lists. Built in September of 1952 on the west side of Griffin, Meriwether Homes is a 120-unit development serving low income families, the elderly and the disabled. Rent is based on 30% of a household's monthly adjusted income. Meriwether Homes includes one-, two-, three-, and four bedroom units, and is conveniently located near schools, a hospital and shopping areas.

Fairmont Homes
Built in the historic Fairmont area in September of 1952 and serving low income families, the elderly and the disabled, this development comprises 80 units. Located on the North side of Griffin, Fairmont Homes offers affordable housing, with rent based on 30% of a household's monthly adjusted income. The development includes one-, two-, three-, and four bedroom units.
Comprising 50, one-bedroom units, this development is located on the south side of Griffin. Opened in August of 1983, Nine Oaks is reserved for people over the age of 62 and the disabled ,and is conveniently located near several physician offices, a medical center, banks and grocery stores. Rent is based on 30% of a household's monthly adjusted income.
