Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of programs such as Low Rent Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program - Section 8. These programs are income based and eligibility requirements are set by HUD. There may be a waiting list for vouchers or rentals and at times the lists may close to new applicants due to the overwhelming need for housing assistance in the area.
The Housing Authority currently operates 492 Low Rent Public Housing Rentals throughout Santa Barbara.
They also offer Workforce Housing Assistance to low income , eligible residents that earn less than 80 % of the Areas Median Income and do not qualify for other housing programs.
