Pennsauken Housing Authority provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of the areas Housing Choice Voucher Program - Section 8. This program is income based and the eligibility guidelines are set by HUD. There may be waiting lists for these vouchers and at times the lists may close to new applicants based on the size of and length of wait on the lists.
The HCV Program is subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The PHA administers 76 tenant based housing choice vouchers for income eligible families, senior citizens, and disabled households. Through this program families receive assistance in paying a portion of their monthly rent. Families are free to choose any house or apartment as long as it meets certain requirements for housing quality and affordability. Program participants normally pay no more than 30% of monthly adjusted income towards rent. The balance of the rent is paid with the HUD subsidized funds.
If you are in need of housing assistance in the area please contact the Housing Authority directly to obtain more information about eligibility requirements, availability of assistance, the status of any waiting lists and their application procedures. Call (856) 663-0514 for more information.
