The Housing Choice Voucher Program represents the federal government's primary program for the provision of decent, safe, affordable housing for low income families, the elderly and the disabled. Participants in the program are assisted in privately owned rental units. The rental unit must meet housing quality standards established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
