The Housing Authority of the City of Madera (HACM) provides affordable and safe housing for low to moderate income individuals and families, and for those whose circumstances find them without a place to live.
Housing Programs:
Public Housing
The Public Housing program provides low-rent rental housing for eligible low-income families. The Housing Authority owns 244 units ranging from apartments to single-family homes at scattered sites throughout the City of Madera
Housing Choice Voucher
The Housing Choice Voucher Program better known as Section 8 provides rental subsidy to eligible families. With a Voucher, families are able to choose a unit in the private rental market giving them the opportunity to seek housing in areas that will improve the life opportunities of family members. The Housing Authority administers 795 vouchers throughout the city and county of Madera
Pomona Ranch Housing Center
Currently, The Pomona Ranch Housing Center is a gated 50-unit complex, with 10 two bedroom, 30 three-bedroom, and 10 four-bedroom units
arm Labor Housing
The Farm Labor Housing program is similar to the Public Housing program. However, the purpose of this program is to provide permanent rental housing for "domestic farm laborers"

Waiting Lists
Most low income apartments have waiting lists. Some of these lists can take years until you can be called for openings. The key is to try to get on as many waiting lists as possible.

Apartment Rates
We provide current apartment rates on many listing pages. Most HUD listings do not have published rates. They are based on 30% of the renters adjustable gross income. You will need to contact the apartments to determine if you qualify for income based rent.
