The Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) is the public agency responsible for administering public housing for eligible individuals and families in Minneapolis. We provide well-managed, high quality housing for our residents.
The Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) main office is located at the intersection of 10th and Washington on the north end of the city\\'s warehouse district. MPHAs normal business hours are from 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The main bus line connections that stop right in front of our office are 20 and 14 on Washington.
MPHA currently has forty-one apartment communities with a total of 4,958 studio and 1 bedroom apartments.
MPHA is accepting applications for applicants 50+ years of age and disabled applicants for one or two person households. Applications are taken Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 1001 Washington Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55401. MPHA will not accept requests on Tuesday or Thursday.
MPHA requires, at the time of application, all applicants to provide for each member of the applicant family who is 18 years or older a State or U.S. government issued valid picture ID that includes the date of birth, or another acceptable picture ID with a birth certificate.
MPHA requires a current address for each applicant. All applicants should inform MPHA in writing of a change in family composition or address. If MPHA does not have a current address, MPHA may withdraw the applicant's application.

Most low income apartments have waiting lists. Some of these lists can take years until you can be called for openings. The key is to try to get on as many waiting lists as possible.

Apartment Rates
We provide current apartment rates on many listing pages. Most HUD listings do not have published rates. They are based on 30% of the renters adjustable gross income. You will need to contact the apartments to determine if you qualify for income based rent.
